About Tallow
Tallow is the pure, slowly rendered fat from beef suet—a time-honoured ingredient used for centuries in candles, soaps and traditional skin care. We choose grass-fed tallow because its fatty-acid profile mirrors the lipids found in healthy human skin. This skin-like chemistry means tallow melts in beautifully, helping to replenish lost lipids, reduce transepidermal water loss and leave a soft, comfortable finish without a heavy film.
Naturally containing fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E and K, and being highly resistant to oxidation, tallow is both nourishing and remarkably stable—ideal for simple, minimal-ingredient formulas. When sourced from grass-fed animals it also supports a nose-to-tail approach that reduces waste and honours the whole animal.
Suitable for most skin types, tallow can be a calming alternative to seed-oil-heavy moisturisers and water-based creams. As always, patch-test first if your skin is reactive, and enjoy the uncomplicated, time-tested care of traditional tallow.
We blend a little coconut, olive and castor oil into our tallow soaps to balance performance and feel. Coconut oil lifts away daily grime and adds abundant, bubbly lather, while olive oil brings that creamy, conditioning glide that leaves skin feeling soft and comfortable. Castor oil is our lather-booster and humectant—it helps draw water to the skin, stabilises the bubbles and supports a silky rinse-off. Together with nutrient-rich, grass-fed tallow, these oils create a hard, long-lasting bar with a rich, stable lather that cleans effectively without stripping your skin.
